With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the Idaho Army National Guard, family, friends, and the Emmett community are mourning the passing of Spc. Keagan Courtenay, who died on July 11, 2026. His loss has brought deep sorrow to those who served alongside him, knew him personally, and valued his commitment to his country and community.
Spc. Courtenay proudly served with the Idaho Army National Guard beginning in 2023 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. Through his service, he demonstrated dedication, responsibility, and a strong commitment to supporting his fellow Soldiers and the mission of the Guard. His contributions and willingness to serve will be remembered and honored by those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Throughout his time in uniform, Keagan represented the values of service, loyalty, and teamwork. As a Soldier, he became part of a close-knit military family built on trust, respect, and shared commitment. His fellow service members will remember him not only for his role as a mechanic but also for the relationships he built and the positive influence he had within his unit.
News of Spc. Courtenay’s passing has left his family, fellow Soldiers, and community members grieving the loss of someone whose life was dedicated to helping others. The Idaho Army National Guard has extended its deepest condolences to his loved ones and those who served beside him during this incredibly difficult time.
Keagan’s family has invited members of the military community and the public to join them in honoring his life and remembering his service. Funeral services will be held on July 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Potter Funeral Home in Emmett, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at the Emmett Cemetery.
As family, friends, and fellow Soldiers gather to pay tribute, they will reflect on the memories, sacrifices, and dedication that defined Keagan’s life. While his passing leaves a tremendous void, his legacy of service and commitment will continue to inspire those who knew him.
